Our LEGOLAND Review
The LEGOLAND Theme Park, Billund, Denmark.

Billund is a medium sized city with its own airport and good road links, positioned on Denmark's mainland, Jylland (Jutland), between Esbjerg (about 65 km) and Vejle (about 35 km).
We spent the best part of a day in LEGOLAND, Billung - Our party consisted of 2 adults and 2 children and found the park to be excellent value for money as once you have paid your entrance fees all rides and exhibitions are free. The park was created in 1968 and undergoes regular updates and modernisation phases. I don't know if it was the holiday mood but I think we enjoyed the LEGO experience at LEGOLAND Billung, Denmark more than we would have at LEGOLAND Windsor - LEGOLAND UK!
There are lots of LEGOLAND ticket / ticketing options: Babies / Young children (0 to 2 years) are free; Little Children (3 to 13); Big Kids (14 to 59); Senior Kids (60+); Two Day Ticket; Season Ticket (full day early season, after 1600 peak season); Season Ticket (all season).
The park has variable opening times:
Early/Late season: 1st April to 29th Oct. from 1000 to 2000 (rides - 1800)
Peak season: 17th June to 27th Aug. from 1000 to 2100 (rides - 1900)
We found plenty to see and do for all - Well known LEGO features are:
The LEGOLAND driving school for kids aged 8 to 13.
Mt. Rushmore (replica of the monument to Presidents Washington,
Jefferson, Lincoln, and T. Roosevelt; using about 1.5 million regular LEGO bricks
and 40,000 LEGO Duplo)
Billund Airport (complete with airplanes; using nearly 700,000 LEGO bricks)
The Port of Copenhagen (using 3 million LEGO bricks)
The Statue of Liberty (using 1.4 million LEGO bricks)
'Big Chief' Sitting Bull (using 1.2 million LEGO bricks)
The Buffalo hunt (using 2.5 million LEGO bricks)
To name a few. There are a lot more LEGO!

Getting to your LEGOLAND break:
By Air:
From Europe - Fly to Billund International Airport. There are flights directly to
Billund from most major European Airports. The airport, which was originally build by the LEGO company (out of regular building materials!) is the second busiest in Denmark after Copenhagen.
From the USA or Worldwide - Fly to Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport", then take an internal flight to Billund.
Once in the 'LEGO City' of Billund, walk from the airport. It's just across the car park! Less than five
minutes walk away. The Legoland Hotel is about half a mile from the airport.
By Train:
Surprisingly there isn't a rail service to Billung! In fact Billund is about as far as you can get from any
railway on mainland Europe. As the town was essentially "put on the map" by LEGOLAND in the 1960s it actually missed out on the railway building era. You can however take a train to Vejle and catch a bus to Billund. The journey takes about half an
hour.
If you arrive by ferry from England (Harwich - Esbjerg), take the
bus to Billund. The journey takes about an hour.
By Bus or Car:
There are buses from most major towns and cities (which may involve changes). A main road goes to Billung.
Shopping:
There is a large LEGO shop inside the complex that carries the entire current line of LEGO sets, LEGO toys including LEGO Duplo. It does not carry old, non-standard, or discontinued kits unlike LEGOLAND Winsor. All items are at list price. If you're from the USA, the only reason to buy anything is that the current line may be somewhat different in Europe than the USA, so you might find a new LEGO kit. We couldn't see any advantage in buying there as the price was similar to the UK (and probably the rest of Europe). You can join the LEGO Club here too.
